The Clock (tick tock)

Comments

First off, check out my latest post...it's addressed to you, since you're the only fellow 24 fan in my neighboorhood...:)

And since it's daytime, 12 PM - 1 PM would be right. And you bet I recorded it and watched it over again! :)

I was recording Heroes and watching 24. Ok, if its daytime, it is 12 noon which is 12AM - 1:00 PM and 12 midnite is 12:00 PM - 1:00 AM. Do I have this backwards? It sounds right to me, but I am a blond, so what do I know, :)
you've got it backwards. Noon is pm, midnight is am.
[this is good]
It works! I don't have to be smart; just surround myself with smart friends. Thanks! Now I get it - the clock thingy.
Or if you want to me pedantic, noon is 12:00 M, the "M" in AM and PM being "Meridian" which you are either ante- or post-. Since the meridian is 12:00:00.0 and so on down to the finest you can slice it, the convention is that noon is classified along with 12:00:00.1 and such as PM.

Back in the day, 3+ decades ago, I know of at least one, and I think two computer time formatting implementations that actually output "12:00 M". One of them at least went to PM because non-latin speaking folk tended to think that "M" should be Midnight and "N" noon.

Oh, and one pedant I know defended midnight being 12:00 AM as being 12:00 anti-meridian rather than ante-meridian. Way too cute.
